There is one God who has revealed Himself as three persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God created all things and made mankind in His image. But through sin, humanity fell, and as a result, death entered the world, affecting all creation.
Yet God, in His love, made a way for redemption:
“For God so loved the world, that He sent his only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
The word doctrine in the Bible means “teaching” in Greek and “learning” in Hebrew. Doctrine is established through the teaching of God’s Word. The Bible contains 66 books, written by 40 authors over a span of 1,500 years. These authors, prophets and apostles, were inspired, God-breathed, to record the words and works of God as revealed to them by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20–21). This was not the work of man, but of God.
The Word of God originates from Jesus and existed before time began (John 1:1–5). Jesus is the Word made manifest in human flesh, as written in John 1:14. God is the true author of Scripture, using human vessels to write, speak, and fulfill His purpose. As it was written, those whom God used lived it, taught it, and proclaimed it, just as we are called to do today.
Jesus said, “..if you continue in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31–32) Truth is found in the Word of God. Science and archaeology continue to affirm the accuracy of Scripture. Every attempt to destroy God’s Word has failed, and instead, it remains the most widely read and enduring book of all time.
By reading and applying Scripture, verse by verse and chapter by chapter, a life can be transformed from darkness into light. If the Bible is true, it leads to an important question: Do you believe it? And if you believe it, do you obey it?
“Open my eyes that I might behold wondrous things out of your law. I am a stranger in the earth; hide not your commandments from me.” (Psalm 119:18–19)
